The football season is warming up and its about time! The basketball playoffs could be exciting, but the game is so flawed by the poor refereeing, and the Miami Heat. The Stanley Cup would be great too, but the Devils look as good as poop on ice. How the Rangers lost to New Jersey I will never know. So thank God Fantasy Football is around the corner and the Denver Broncos have the 50th ranked player in the NFL throwing the rock, according to NFL network.
If Peyton Manning is the 50th ranked player in the NFL he will be the greatest "sleeper" pick in all fantasy football leagues this coming year. However, lets get real, Manning is a top pick in fantasy football. If people are willing to take M. Vick (Phi), and J. Charles (K.C.) in the top 5 they would be beyond nuts to let Manning slip out of the first round. Since we are talking QB's lets list my Top 5 Fantasy QB's this year:
First Round Top 5 QB's
1) Tom Brady
2) Cam Newton
3) Aaron Rodgers
4) Peyton Manning
5) Drew Brees
Good, not great:
Matthew Stafford -- Needs to stay healthy; I think C.Johnson will start to breakdown and will not be as
durable.
Matt Schaub -- In the same boat as Stafford with health and his top receiver, but he does have
A. Foster, so not a bad pickup.
Big Ben -- New OC and it is clear they do not get along, poor Mike Wallace.
Alex Smith -- Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, Vernon Davis just to name a few top additions.
Eli Manning -- Could be in the Top 5, but he is without some former top performers this year.
Tony Romo -- Needs to stay healthy, good for fantasy, bad for the Cowboys.
Jay Cutler -- If you don't mind INT's you won't mind taking Cutler. Marshall + Cutler = more risk and
more reward
Beware:
Phillip Rivers-- Love the guy, but he does not have the personnel. Eddie Royal is no Jackson.
Josh Freeman -- New coach, new system, new #1, but not this year.
Joe Flacco -- Sorry dude, you're not an elite NFL QB.
Matt Hasselback -- Out as starter by week 8
Matt Flynn -- see Kevin Kolb.
Kevin Kolb -- shows improvement, but no real change.
M. Vick -- High risk; High reward.
Sleeper:
RG3 -- See the success of Jack Plummer and add a better arm and faster legs.
Blaine Gabbert -- May not win too many games, but he has a nice additions at WR
will have to throw often while playing from behind.
Deep Sleeper:
Matt Cassel -- He has the help around him now he needs to put it all together.
More to come....
